A standard 360 tour is often made with a camera that takes a single spherical photograph. This allows a person to look around a room from a fixed point, as if standing still.
A Matterport camera does more. In addition to taking photographs, it uses infrared sensors to measure the dimensions of a room. It scans the space to collect depth information.
This process creates a geometrically accurate 3D model of the entire property, not just a set of separate images. The result is a 3D virtual tour where a person can move from room to room. This is different from a standard 360 tour which usually does not allow for this type of movement.
